ident for the film distribution company

We designed this ident for Village Films in 2004. It is composed of a simple two-part dramatic structure: yearning and resolution. The ident is shown when the lights are turned off in the cinema (after the trailers), so just before seeing it, the audience is in complete darkness. Darkness is a scary thing. Since the beginning of times, humans have been afraid of the dark, logically because nighttime is pretty dangerous. So, the early caveman must have enjoyed nothing more than the arrival of sunrise. Vittorio Storaro once said that every film is a battle between darkness and light. The ident's soundtrack reflects the two-part structure: yearning = minor key, resolution = major key. The transition between the former and the latter occurs when the V-logo reaches its position, above the sun.
